Hump Day Bump Day: Week 16

I decided to do a hump day bump day post for today, since my initial post was my last. I got into a little bit of a private mood and I honestly didn’t feel like sharing everything with everyone. Needless to say, I am somewhat over that. You get to a point where your friends and family members are asking you the same questions over and over again. It’s not their fault, though. When I got to that point, I remembered I could just blog about it and have everyone see it at once, but…

I’m still asked about the belly pics, which I haven’t been taking. Here’s the deal…I want to take the pictures, I really do. I even have an alarm for it in my phone. However, I can’t take a selfie and get my belly in the shot. By the time my husband gets home, I have forgotten about it. Also, I’m usually wearing something that is super comfortable (read: ugly) around the house and I often don’t feel like changing for the sake of one picture. My remedy for this is to take the picture when I am out of the house, but I get so wrapped up in what we’re doing and forget. I really want to get better with taking the pictures to keep our friends and family in the loop. Jon and I both have friends and family who are across or out of the country.

Belly pictures aside, I’ve been doing pretty well documenting my feelings during each week. As I’ve already said, I just didn’t feel like sharing at the time. Things seem a bit brighter for me this week, so here’s my 16 week run-down:

How big is baby? The baby is as big as an avocado this week. Coincidentally, I have a few avocados in my kitchen to reference. It’s pretty cool to know that something that size is still growing inside of me!

How am I feeling today?: Pretty cool! There really isn’t room for me to feel any other way today. I have too many things to accomplish by my deadlines, so pulling myself up by my belly band would have been my plan B.
Symptoms: Since I am now in my second trimester, most of the icky symptoms have passed. The only two I have revolve around sleeping. On one hand, I am fatigued. I find myself falling asleep at the most inopportune times. On the other hand, I have trouble falling asleep at night. I am normally a needy, super affectionate sleeper, but I no longer want any parts. It’s super uncomfortable. I’ve found that sleeping on my left side with my head elevated works best.
Upcoming pregnancy moments: Week 16 means we are one week closer to learning the sex of our baby! I am excited for it and the likely gender reveal party we’ll have!  At this point of the pregnancy, any excuse for food and cupcakes is okay by me!
