In this video, I am taming my mane with the assistance of two heat-styling tools I recently purchased. I used the Infiniti Pro by Conair Hair Designer 3-in-1 Styling System with One ‘n Only Argan Oil Strip to blow dry and the Hair Art H3000 to flat iron.

If you care about your skincare routine, you probably have an opinion about the impending ban on microbeads. I love that these microbeads are being banned because they do not dissolve and may pose a threat to the environment. However, some ladies are a bit frantic because their staple cleansers won’t be around anymore. Well, fret not. I have pulled together a list of my favorite natural exfoliants. I have purchased each of these products within the last year and have LOVED each of them.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! As much as I love Christmas, autumn will always be my favorite time of year. My favorite holidays, pumpkin spice mania, and my birthday all happen this season. Additionally, it’s homecoming season! Continue reading “Homecoming Looks for the Day and Night”
As I have mentioned a few times in my previous posts, I am in a number of awesome Facebook groups. One of those groups is a makeup group for black women. We share tips, product reviews, and looks of the day…among many other things. This group is important for us because it’s not always easy for us to find products that flatter our features and complexions. For many women of color, a lack of such products can be a deal breaker. Recently, a member of the makeup group shared her awesome experience with Ocean Mist Cosmetics regarding that very issue. The time has come when you can no longer stretch the time between shaving your legs. With the warm weather, there’s no room for stubble. Here’s how I achieve silky-smooth legs for the summer.
First, I use a hair removal cream. My cream of choice is Nair with baby oil. Sometimes I like Nair’s Morrocan argan oil shower power cream. It’s awesome for doing this routine in a rush. You can apply the cream right before you get in the shower and it won’t wash off until you’re ready. As for the Nair with baby oil, it leaves your legs super smooth.
I leave the cream on for the allotted time on the bottle (since starting my biotin challenge, I’ve found that I need to leave it on for the max amount of time). I rinse the cream off with the pressure from the water and my hands. There will likely be a little residue leftover, but I try to remove all of the visible cream.
Next, I use a body scrub to exfoliate my legs and to help remove stubborn hairs. This step is super important. If you have ever used Nair and had tiger stripes after removal, this step helps. I typically use body scrubs from Bath and Body Works because their grain isn’t too abrasive. I rub the body scrub for a few minutes, then I rinse with warm water.
After rinsing, I bathe normally…following up with a shower pouf on my legs. After towel drying my body, I rub my legs down with a nice, moisturizing lotion/body butter.
To me, doing this routine makes my hair removal last a little longer. I only have to do this every other week. Let me know how it works for you in the comments!
